New Officer Mess of SFHQ-W, 'SPIRIT' Provides All Facilities


The new Officer Mess of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W), named ‘SPIRIT’ was recently opened by Mr Ruwan Wijewardene, State Minister of Defence during his recent visit to the north.

On a concept by Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W, the three storied Officer Mess was built to suit natural surroundings at a cost of Rs 53 m. The name ‘SPIRIT’ signifies the spirit of the soldiers who have contributed to the construction work of the mess.
 
The ground floor comprises a dining hall which can accommodate 100 people, a lobby for 50 people and a state-of-the-art kitchen. Also, 10 rooms are available for the officers as accommodation.
 
The first floor comprises two conference halls with state-of-the-art facilities. One conference hall can accommodate up to 30 people and the other is for VIP personnel, enough for 10 people. Also, this floor includes an auditorium for 80 people and a cinema hall for 56 people. Both are equipped with 3D facility.

The second floor consists of a 3D auditorium for 100 people, one VIP room, three VIP rooms, a lobby which can accommodate 30 people and a balcony which can accommodate up to 100 people.

After receiving a memento from Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W after opening the State Minister signed the visitors’ book at the new Officers’ Mess.
