Major General Swarna Bothota of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) Regiment assumed office as the new Military Secretary (MS) at the Army Headquarters during a brief religious ceremony on Monday (18).
Major General Swarna Bothota who is also the Colonel Commandant of the SLAC served the office of Adjutant General, Adjutant General Branch at the Army Headquarters before he was appointed to the new office.
Upon arrival at his office, he conducted religious observances before he formally placed his signature in an official document to symbolize the acceptance of his office as the Military Secretary of the Army.
Having joined the Army as an Officer Cadet in 1988, he was commissioned as a 2 Lieutenant in the SLAC upon completion of his initial training at the pioneer Sri Lanka Military Academy at Diyatalawa and he has served a number of prestigious appointments in the Army including the office of Director, Commandant Army War College, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division and several other senior appointments.
