Major General Priyantha Perera who recently assumed office as the 25th Commander of the Security Forces - Jaffna, made his first formal field visit to the 55 Infantry Division Headquarters in Kadeykadu on Wednesday (27).
The Security Force Commander was warmly welcomed by the General Officer Commanding 55 Division, Major General Sisira Pilapitiya and presented a drive past Guard Turnout at the main entrance. The visiting Security Force Commander addressed the troops at the gymnasium in the Division Headquarters before he was invited to planting a sapling in the compound as a symbol of memory and posed for group photographs. After an all rank tea, he addressed the troops as a formality and underlined the importance of alertness to security, discipline of officers and other ranks, balance between work and personal life and the status quo as regards COVID-19 epidemic.
The visiting Security Force Commander also received a briefing on the area of responsibilities from the General Officer Commanding of the 55 Infantry Division. Later, the Security Forces Commander visited 553 Brigade and its under command units and the Battalion Training School at Periyapachchapalai.
