Under the new development vision of the government, distinguished guests including Mr. P Digambaram, Minister of Estate and Infrastructure Development, Mr. Harin Fernando, Chief Minister of Uva Province and Commander Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) placed the foundation stones on Sunday (1) for construction of a new housing project at Punagala Estate for the victims in Miriyabedda landslide tragedy which took place on 29 October 2014 completely destroying 79 houses.
Funds have been allocated by the government under the directions of the Ministry of Estate and Infrastructure Development and skilled human resources are to be provided by the Army Engineer troops on the guidance of Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander, SFHQ-C.
Several ministers and members of Parliamentarians, including Mr. P Digambaram, Minister of Estate and Infrastructure Development, Mr. Harin Fernando, Chief Minister of Uva Province and Commander SFHQ-C, together with invitees and a large gathering attended the inaugural ceremony.
