Major General Nishantha Herath assumed duties as the 8thCommandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) at Sapugaskanda on Wednesday (16).
A drive-past greeted him on arrival before he was warmly welcomed by the Brigadier Darshana Wijesekara, Deputy Commandant, Brigadier Lalith Herath, Brigadier Coordinating and all the Wing Heads of DSCSC, the apex of military teaching in Sri Lanka. He was invited to leave memories by planting an Ironwood sapling in the Fountain Square of the College before he was invited to address the staff and student officers.
In his address, he emphasized the importance of our role towards ensuring a viable working environment and of our primary responsibility in educating Student Officers on the art of applying command functions and staff techniques with an understanding about joint inter-services and inter-agency operations and the mechanism of formulating the national defence policy and its core relationship with the military of defence.
Major General Nishantha Herath held the office of the Director-General Training at the Army HQ before taking over this new office. He succeeds Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya who has now assumed office as the 56th Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army.jordan Sneakers | Air Jordan
