New Colonel Commandant in Signal Corps Takes Office

Major General Ashoka Peiris assumed office as the 14th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) on Monday (18) at the SLSC Regimental Centre in Panagoda.

The Colonel Commandant was greeted and welcomed by the Centre Commandant Colonel Ashoka Gunasekara and was accorded a Guard Turnout at the main entrance. Thereafter, the incoming Colonel Commandant placed a floral wreath at the fallen war heroes’ monument in remembrance of fallen war heroes before he was invited to receive the salute in the Guard of Honour at the Regimental Centre parade ground.

Subsequently, the Colonel Commandant placed his signature in a formal document amidst religious observances to signify the acceptance of the new office. Then he addressed all officers present and who are working outstations via webcast and emphasized his future plans for the SLSC. The day’s proceedings ended with refreshments.

Senior Signal officers, Commanding Officers and Regimental staff officers attended this event.
