New Army Service Centre at Punani Opened


Directorate of Engineering and Mechanical Engineering (DEME) at Army Headquarters added one more technically modern new service center to the Eastern province as per the directions of The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.

The Army following directions of the Commander began erecting service centers in island-wide Army formations, enabling all Army vehicles to undergo repairs and servicing, thereby reducing expenditure incurring for this purpose.

On Friday (18) at the invitation of Brigadier T.N Jayasuriya, Director, DEME, Major General Lal Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) cut a ribbon and opened the newly-erected Service Center at 23 Division Headquarters, Punani.  

Earlier, as per the project, DEME established Service Centers at Mannar, Kilinochchi, Jaffna, Vavuniya, Panagoda, Kosgama and several other places, facilitating speedy and economical repairs to the fleet of Army vehicle.

Brigadier T.N Jayasuriya, senior officers and several invitees attended the opening ceremony.
