Brigadier H.J.S Gunawardena assumed duties as the 10th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 57 Division Headquarters on Friday (06) at the Division Headquarters, Kilinochchi.
On arrival at the Headquarters, the newly-appointed GOC received a Guard Turnout and reviewed a Guard of Honour, presented by 1 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops in the parade ground.
Ven. Hingurankande Sumana Thero of Sri Sugatha Temple, Mankulam invoked blessings on the new appointment and performed religious observances.
As a token of memory, the new GOC planted a mango sapling in the 57 Division Headquarter premises and finally attended an all-rank tea party.
Brigade Commanders of the 571, 572, 574 Brigades, Commanding Officers and Staff Officers of the 57 Division were present during the occasion.
