Brigadier Imal Assalarachchi assumed duties as the 10th Commander of the 543 Brigade under the 54 Division on Tuesday (19) during a simple ceremony at the Brigade HQ, Pesalai, Thalaimannar.
The new Brigade Commander was welcomed by staff officers of the Brigade and was accorded a Guard Turnout salute, presented by 11 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment on arrival at the location. Afterward, Brigadier Imal Assalarachchi placed his signature in an official document to mark assumption of his duties.
Brigadier Imal Assalarachchi prior to his new appointment served as the Chief Coordinator for the Centre for Research and Development at the MOD.
