Major General Chaminda Lamahewa assumed duties as the 8th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 24 Division HQ-in Malwatta, Ampara on Monday (08) amidst traditional military formalities at the Headquarters premises.
The day’s proceedings commenced saluting the incoming GOC in a Guard Turnout on his arrival at the premises. He afterwards reviewed the Guard of Honour, accorded in his honour by the troops of 11 Sri Lanka National Guard.
Later on, Major General Chaminda Lamahewa planted a sapling in the headquarters premises before he signified the formal acceptance of the office.
