Brigadier Wasantha Liyanawaduge assumed duties as the 10th Commander of the 144 Brigade on Tuesday (26) at the Brigade Headquarters in Akuregoda - Battaramulla.
The new 144 Brigade Commander was welcomed by senior officers on arrival. Amid chanting of 'Seth Pirith' of Buddhist monks, the new commander of the 144 Brigade left his signature for an official document and signified the acceptance of the new office. Brigadier Wasantha Liyanawaduge, prior to this new appointment served as the 232 Brigade Commander in Thoppigala.
The formal address to the Officers and Other Ranks followed an All Rank tea with the Commanding Officers and Brigade staff
