A 27 - member delegation of Nepal’s Army Command and Staff College (ACSC), currently on a familiarization tour in Sri Lanka as part of their college curriculum, called on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Wednesday (9) morning at Army Headquarters.
The delegation, led by Brigadier General Padam Bilash Karki, Deputy Commandant, ACSC in Nepal, is comprised of two ACSC senior instructors, two members of Directing Staff, Coordinator and 20 Student Officers of Nepal Army, Police, Armed Police Force, and National Investigative Department, including five student officers from China, India, Pakistan and USA.
Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army, who received the Head of the Delegation Brigadier General Padam Bilash Karki and a representative group at his office, exchanged views on matters of bilateral interest.
The Sri Lankan Army Chief during interaction with the visiting Deputy Commandant queried about the student contingent at Nepal ACSC, its curriculum and preparatory modules of the college that match with global trends.
Nepal’s Brigadier General Padam Bilash Karki during the meeting with the Sri Lankan Army Chief touched on the possibilities of establishing a Defence University of our own in Sri Lanka, in parallel with the ones in several other regional destinations.
Towards the end of the Commander’s interaction, exchange of mementos as well as the signing of the Visitors’ Book at the Commander’s office took place.
Major General B.A. Perera, Director General, General Staff at Army Headquarters was also associated with the meeting at the Commander’s office.
Meanwhile, soon after the meeting with the Commander, the entire delegation had the privilege of listening to a brief lecture on ‘Humanitarian Operations and Post-Conflict Developments’, delivered by Brigadier R Kulathunga, Director Operations at Army Headquarters at the Commander’s Secretariat.
During their stay in Sri Lanka, the visiting delegation was scheduled to meet the Commanders of Navy and Air Force before they proceeded to Sapugaskanda Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), the corresponding military academy to the ACSC in Nepal on Wednesday (9).
The delegation is expected to visit the Kotalawala Defence University, Air Force Museum, Trincomalee, Kandy and several other places of interest during their educational tour in Sri Lanka.
