To coincide with the 72nd Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, a newly - constructed house was vested in the needy family of Mr R.M Ranasinghe, Gemunupura, Padavi-Sripura on Sunday (10th October 2021) during a simple ceremony.
With financial patronage given by 9th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment troops and Major General Upali Gunasekara, General Officer Commanding, 62 Division, the house was constructed by the same troops of the 9th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment using their technical knowhow under the supervision of the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Senaka Munasinghe.
The community welfare project of house construction was spearheaded across all SFHQs on the instructions of the Army Chief in order to support the government's ongoing housing project, meant for the homeless.
Brigadier Anura Abeysinghe, Commander, 622 Brigade supervised the entire project. After the plight of the beneficiary was brought to the notice of the troops, a decision was taken to that effect by 9 GR troops in consultation with the Brigade Commander and the GOC, 62 Division.
The incumbent monk at Sripura Rajamaha Viharaya, Grama Seva official, Development officer of the area and relatives of the beneficiary participated in the simple house- warming event.
