Needy Families in Mullaittivu Get New Homes on Army Day

To coincide with the 72nd Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, a newly - constructed house was vested in the needy family of Mr Ragan Thambirasa, Sugandipuram on Wednesday (13) during a simple ceremony, attended by Major General Sisira Pilapitiya, Commander SFHQ -MLT.

With financial patronage given by 9th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard troops and 681 Brigade, the house was constructed by the same troops using their technical knowhow under the supervision of the Commanding Officer, 9 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard.

Similarly, one more newly - constructed house was vested in the needy family of Mrs R. Guganeshwari in Thevipuram on Wednesday (13) during a simple ceremony. The community welfare project of house construction was spearheaded across all SFHQs on the instructions of the Army Chief in order to support the government's ongoing housing project, meant for the homeless.

Major General Keerthi Bandara, GOC 68 Division, supervised the entire project. After the plight of the beneficiary was brought to the notice of the troops, a decision was taken to that effect by 9 SLNG and 18 VIR troops in consultation with the Brigade Commander 681 Brigade.

Senior army officers, Other Ranks, Grama Seva official, Development officer of the area and relatives of the beneficiary participated in the simple house- warming event.
