Saving a fair chunk of financial resources to the organization they serve, 16 Engineer Service Regiment (ESR), troops of the 7 Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC) and 6 Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) at the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), succeeded in producing parabolic huts for their own use during functions, social events and meetings, spare parts, grass cutters and repairing a large stock of heavy vehicles, generators and other appliances which remained unusable for some time in all SFHQ-MLT formations.
On the directions of Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, SFHQ-MLT and with the coordination of the Forward Maintenance Area (FMA) Headquarters and its other auxilliary formations, the troops produced two new parabolic huts (20' x 80'), two parabolic huts (30' x 100') and a large platform which can be used outdoor as well during public occasions.
Through innovative technical planning of the troops, they managed to produce four grass cutters too that can be connected to the tractors which were also repaired and put back on track by the same troops.
The newly-constructed parabolic huts, repaired vehicles and other equipment were inspected by Major General Jagath Dias and senior officers during a simple ceremony, held at the SFHQ-MLT premises on Saturday (28).
Invention and restoration of the machinery were coordinated and supervised by the FMA. Commanding Officers (COs) of the 16 ESR, 7 SLAOC and 6 SLEME and the task was successfully completed as expected.
Apart from that a heavy vehicle and two generators were repaired with the technical assistance of the troops of the 16 ESR.
Major General Jagath Dias appreciated the tireless commitment and dedication for the valued service and thanked all Commanding Officers and the troops of the ESR, SLAOC and SLEME who were instrumental in completing the challenging tasks.
