Giving prominence to traditional cultural rites and rituals and depicting how the New Year season reminds us of our collective games and fun-making atmosphere, Security Forces - Mullaittivu (SF-MLT) had its New Year festival organized at SF grounds on Thursday (7).
Typical old places of consultations, Gammuladeniyage Gedara, the village headman’s home, Neketh Gedara, Kumbal Gedara, Hindu Gedara, Dheevara Gedara, etc, built as replicas in the premises robbed the attention of the spectators.
During the festival, a number of New Year games and competitions, like bicycle race, pillow fighting, road race, climbing grease tree, musical chairs, bun eating, cadjan-weaving, selection of New Year prince and princess, fancy dress, etc dominated with the participation of a number of all ranks.
Additional Secretary for Mullaittivu, Mr C.A Mohanras and Divisional Secretaries of Maritimepattu, Oddusudan and Puthukkuddiyirippu, Major General P.U.S Vithanage, Commander, SF-MLT together with other senior officers including Divisional and Brigade Commanders, Commander (FMA-MLT), Commanding Officers, officers and other ranks participated in the festival.
