Security Forces Headquarters – Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) on account of X’mas and New Year launched a series of festive arrangements, giving pride of place to distribution of essentials among the poor.
Recital of Carols, erection of X’mas tree and a large crib at the 68 Division Headquarters and the St Anthony’s Play Ground at Iranamadu attracted huge crowds, followed by special services conducted by Rev Arunachalam, Pastor at Valayamadam Church and Roman Catholic Church.
Students from Mullaittivu, Puthumatalan and Valiyamadam Catholic and Government Schools took part in the Carols, witnessed by a large gathering of civilians and devotees. Distribution of lunch and gift parcels, containing dry rations and essentials among children, civilians and the needy took place on X’mas day and the day after.
A X’mas float with a Santa Claus on board toured the areas of Mullaittivu as the dusk fell.
