Major General L.B.R Mark, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) recently opened the newly-built science laboratory at Alampil GTM School.
It was the 59 Division under SFHQ-MLT which provided all technical equipment and other accessories for the new laboratory after the school principal projected the requirement to the General Officer Commanding in the 59 Division.
A chain of entertaining spectacles, presented both by teaching staff and students, added colour to the day’s programme after the ceremonial opening of the laboratory.
Establishment of a laboratory, a long-felt need of this school came about as one more project of the civil affairs wing of the 59 Division.
Zonal Director of Education, school’s principal, 59 Division General Officer Commanding, 591 Brigade Commander, 26 Gemunu Watch Commanding Officer, parents, teachers, several senior citizens and other invitees took part in the ceremony.
