NORTH & EAST: TROOPS continued their daily search and clear operations in the general areas of ASIKULAM, MAHAULGASKADA, IRANAMADU, ALANKULAM and AKKARAYANKULAM throughout Friday (19).
During those search operations, they recovered two T-56 weapons, two T-81 weapons, seventeen claymore mines, thirty-one electronic detonators, one suicide belt, ninety-seven rounds of T-56 ammunition, 1kg of TNT explosives, one parcel containing explosives, one hundred and seventeen anti personnel mines and four rounds of Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG).
In the meantime, Army troops engaged in a search operation in ANGODAVILLUWA, BATTICALOA recovered one 120 mm mortar left hidden by LTTE terrorists in the area on Friday (19).
Meanwhile, Army troops engaged in a search operation in KADAWANA, TRINCOMALEE recovered sixteen C-4 explosive chargers weighing about 15kg each two suicide jackets weighing about 2.5kg each, 15m detonator code, six hand grenades, 15kg of TNT explosives and one thousand and five hundred rounds of Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) ammunition, the same day (19).
