More Training Programmes for Potential Army Retirees


The Non Commissioned Officers (NCOs) Training School, Kalaoya concluded one more training programme, titled ‘Spiritual Bio-dynamic Traditional Agriculture’ for officers and other ranks who will shortly retire from the service with the support of the ‘Sanasa Nature Farm’ (Sobadaham Govipala) at Ukuwela on Monday (2).

33 Army personnel followed this 4-month long course, intended to further enhance their knowledge on farming and earn an additional income upon retirement. Award of certificates to those Army personnel upon successful completion of their training took place during a ceremony on Monday (2).

Major General Prasanna de Silva, Commander, Army Training Command attended the occasion as the chief guest together with Dr. W.M.A.D.B. Wickramasinghe, Director, Natural Resources Management Centre, Peradeniya, Brigadier K.D.C.G.J Thilakaratne, Commandant, NCOs Training School, Mr. Thilak Kandegama, Director General, Natural Farming and Agriculture Training Centre, ‘Sanasa’, Ukuwela, Mrs. Hemamala Amunugama, Assistant Director (Retd), Department for Export of Agricultural Products and Lieutenant Colonel H.C.L Galappaththi, Staff Officer, Directorate of Training at Army Headquarters.

Afterwards, Major General Silva inspected the construction progress of the new Sri Lanka Army Vocational Training Centre under construction in the premises.
