The 54 Division HQ in Thalladi, Mannar on account of the first working day in the New Year on Friday (1) added further monumental significance to memories of eleven valiant Officers and Other Ranks who laid their lives in Mannar before May 2009 by erecting separate pedastals around the War Heroes' monument in the HQ, engraved with poetic eulogy, composed by none other than the General Officer Commanding of the 54 Division, Major General Indrajith Bandara.
Soon after the customary flag hoisting ceremony of the New Year day, those pedestals were unveiled by the writer himself as a tribute to the memory of fallen ones in the 54 Division HQ. The monument reminds that fallen soldiers in Mannar battles are not forgotten and they will remain in our hearts for ever.
