12 Division troops of the Security Force HQ-Central on a tip-off stormed a cannabis cultivation in the general forest reserve in Newgala area on Friday (25) and destroyed the cultivation of about 1,000 plants of 6 – 7 ft high.
The raid was done on the directions of the General Officer Commanding, 12 Division, Brigadier Lanka Amarapala, and the operation was closely supervised by the Commander of the 121 Brigade, Brigadier Udaya Serasinghe. 18 Gemunu Watch troops as instructed by their Commanding Officer conducted the raid with the support of Policemen.
