The 14th Anniversary Day Celebration of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) was held on Saturday (13) at the Mechanized Infantry Regiment HQ in Dambuluhalmillawewa, Dambulla.
Major General Sena Waduge, Colonel of the Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment was warmly welcomed by Colonel Aruna Jayasekera, Deputy Centre Commandant upon arrival at the entrance and he was greeted to a Guard Turnout before he paid tribute to the memory of fallen War Heroes at the MIR Monument amid military ceremonials.
Thereafter, Colonel of the Regiment was accompanied by Brigadier Sujith Balachandra, Chief Executive Officer, Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre and Brigadier Kumara Wanasinghe - Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regiment in order to receive the Guard of Honour, presented on the visting Major General Waduge's behalf.
