On financial grants provided jointly by the Directorate of Veterans Affairs and the Mechanized Infantry Regiment Regimental Centre, a new house constructed by 3 MIR troops under the close supervision of the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel R M H B Rathnayake and also under the guidance of the Centre Commandant, Brigadier Kumara Wanasinghe was vested in the family of a late War Hero in Beliatta area on Sunday (7).
To be in line with the conceptual guidance, initiated by the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army to build as many houses as possible for families of fallen War Heroes and differently able soldiers, a new house, erected under the 'Housing Project Phase V' was ceremonially vested in the family members of Late Private S. K. Priyantha (3 MIR) in Beliatta area.
The Colonel of the Regiment MIR, Major General Sena Waduge on Sunday (07) auspiciously cut a ribbon and warmed the new home.
