Military Funeral Honours Kosgama - Salawa Blast Victim

The military funeral of Lance Corporal K. Janaka Chaminda of 5 Gajaba Regiment (GR) who tragically died in the Kosgama - Salawa camp in the blazing inferno on Sunday (5) took place this evening (9) at Ullara cemetery, Weliwita, Buttala amid full military honours.

Lance Corporal Chaminda (40) who joined the Army for operational duties in 1996 is a father of 2 children and was scheduled to go on leave, the following day (6) before the tragedy struck him.

The mortal remains of the victim were taken to his home at Medagama, Waguruwela in Buttala Tuesday (7) morning after preliminary investigations were over.

His military funeral was attended by a large gathering of mourners where the Part I order of the Commanding Officer of the Unit was read out at the funeral.
