Acting on intelligence provided by Military Intelligence Corps (MIC), 6 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops of the 682 Brigade under the 68 Division of the Security Force HQ- Mullaittivu took 142.2kg of Cannabis into custody during a search in the general area of Pattikarei, Puthumathalan in Chalai area on Thursday (26).
Troops handed over the parcels containing Cannabis to the Mullaittivu Police Special Task Force for onward investigations.
Those snap searches of the Police are being actively supported by MIC troops as per directions of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva, to be in line with HE the President's campaign for eradication of drug menace.
