Mammoth Medical Camp in Gajabapura Treats 1146 Patients of Low Income Families

A record 1146 civilians of low-income groups, resident in Gajabapura area under the Welioya Divisional Secretariat sought medical consultations and medicine in a mega mobile medical camp, held on Saturday (17) at Gajabapura School, Gajabapura as a result of arrangements put in place by troops of the 62 Division.

11 Medical Specialists, 29 Medical Officers and 103 Medical Assistants of the Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine contributed to the conduct of the Medical Camp at the invitation of Brigadier L. A. N. S Wanigasinghe, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 62 Division.

Officers and Other Ranks of the 62 Division, 621 Brigade and 14 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry under the supervision of respective Commanding Officers assisted the conduct of the medical camp, in which all attendees were provided with refreshments, supplied by the Army.

Major General Sanjeewa Munasinghe, Director General, Army Medical Services readily offered his valuable assistance to make this project a great success. Those Medical Specialists after examining some of the patients referred them to peripheral and general hospitals for further treatment and medical tests. A large stock of free medicine were also distributed during the camp.
