Major General Upali Rajapaksha Assumed Duties as Colonel of the Regiment of the Commando Regiment

The 15th Colonel of the Regiment Commando Regiment Major General Upali Rajapaksha assumed duties on Monday (18) morning in a simple ceremony at the Commando Regiment Regimental Headquarters in Ganemulla.

At the outset, the incoming Colonel of the Regiment Commando Regiment reviewed the Guard Turnout presented by Commando troops on arrival and was invited to receive Guard of Honour salute of the Commandos.

A brief religious ceremony invoked blessings on the new appointment before he formally signed a document to signify the acceptance of the new office at the auspicious minute.

Later, he was invited to plant a sapling in the premises as a gesture of memory. The formal address to the Officers and Other Ranks following an all Rank lunch culminated the day’s proceedings.
