Major General Ranjan Lamahewage assumed office as the 19th Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) on Friday (15) at the SLNG Regimental Centre. He is also the General Officer Commanding of the 14 Division.
The Colonel of the Regiment on arrival at the Regimental premises was greeted to a Guard Turnout at the entrance and welcomed by the Centre Commandant Brigadier K M Thilakarathne. Thereafter the Colonel of the Regiment placed a floral wreath at the fallen SLNG War Heroes’ monument before he placed his signature in a formal document amidst religious observances to signify the acceptance of the new office.
Then he was invited to receive the salute in the Guard of Honour at the Regimental Centre parade ground. Afterwards, Colonel of the Regiment added memories to assumption of his new office by planting a sapling in the premises, Then followed the troop address at the Regimental auditorium where he spelt out his vision for the SLNG.
