Major General Dhammika Jayasinghe's Service Recalled with Gratitude

Major General Dhammika Jayasinghe, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on the eve of his retirement from the Army was invited by the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva to his office at the AHQ on Wednesday (24) where the latter commended his dedicated services to the Army for more than three decades.

General Shavendra Silva during the brief interaction recalled his bravery in the face of the enemy right throughout the three-decade long fighting against LTTE terrorists for many years as one of the front-liners and shared a few thoughts and pleasantries with the retiring Major General Dhammika Jayasinghe who has served a number of key appointments in the Army during his tenure and the Gajaba Regiment (GR) in particular. He also complimented the retiree on his dedicated roles in the Wanni and other spheres of duty as one of the service-committed Senior Officers.

The outgoing Senior Officer also thanked the Commander of the Army for his wishes and the thoughtfulness while mentioning about the encouragement he received from the Army Chief in the performance of his duties. Towards the end of the interaction, General Shavendra Silva awarded a special memento to the retiree as a symbol of appreciation and commendation. The gesture was reciprocated.
