Low-Income Families Educated on Nutritional Factors

Uduvil-Jaffna-based low-income group families and their children, badly affected by malnutrition and lack of knowledge for proper management of dietary patterns for best nutritious purposes were exposed to a three-day workshop, following initiatives taken by 513 Brigade of Uduvil.

Over 250 parents and children attended this three-day educative programme held at Mallakam Thangamma Appakutti Vidyalaya, Mallakam Kulaimangal RCTM Vidyalaya, Alaveddy South Arunachalan Vidyalaya, Uduvil Murugamoorthy Vidyalaya, Annaikoottai Balasubramaniyam Vidyalaya, Navali Maha Vidyalaya, Araly Hindu Vidyalaya, Mullai Sivaprakash Vidyalaya, Pirapattu Kalaimagal Vidyalaya and Sittankerny Vaddu Hindu Vidyalaya.  

With the coordination of Chief Coordinator Civil Affairs Jaffna Colonel Christy Jayasinghe and Managing Director of Anchor Newdale Company Mr. Nimal Gamage (Projects), Anchor Newdale Company sponsored the Programme.

At the end of each session, questions were placed before the audience and 20 of them who correctly answered those questions were offered valuable prizes, worth over Rs. 100,000/=.

In addition, all ten schools that accommodated the programme received Rs. 20,000/= each from the company as a token of their goodwill.

This was the first time that the Company selected a remote area, away from a busy town to conduct this programme.
