The newly opened Army School of Logistics (ASL) at Trincomalee with the commencement of the seasonal monsoons commenced a tree planting project to coincide with the recent National Tree Planting Campaign under a special theme, ‘Bio Diversity is Life’.
The ASL Commandant, staff members of the ASL and the Deputy Director Agriculture and their officials with the assistance of the Ministry of Agriculture started planting over 200 saplings of coconuts, mangoes, oranges, lime, jack fruits, papaya, grapes and many other varieties inside the school compound after a brief inaugural ceremony.
Ministry of Agriculture donated those varieties of plants that suit the geology and the climate in Trincomalee and its suburbs. Arrangements are in progress to plant 200 more plants in the premises shortly in order to further enhance healthier and greener environment. Several donors provided fertilizer, some plantation tools and a set of literature with respect to tree planting.
