The newly re-established Eye Clinic at Kilinochchi District Hospital was opened to the public by Major General Chandana Rajaguru on the invitation of the Medical Superintendent.
The reopening of this vital unit on Thursday (25) was made possible following donation of medical accessories, needed for the unit by the Director Sri Lanka Eye Foundation and the philanthropist, Mr Mohan Samarakoon of Kandy. Both of them were magnanimous in bringing a team of specialist medical officers and eye specialists for conduct of a full-day medical clinic plus an eye clinic at the hospital premises, in connection with the opening of the new eye unit. Civilians as well as members of the Security Forces were also educated on contraction of Tuberculosis and Cancer during this programme.

Meanwhile, troops of 6 Forward Sri Lanka Engineers, 7 Sri Lanka Artillery and 9 Sri Lanka Service Corps under the directions of the Security Forces Headquarters handed over three more newly-built houses to the IDP families on Tuesday (23). A simple ceremony saw those houses were handed over to the families who had been occupying temporary shelters by Major General Chandana Rajaguru, Commander, Security Forces, Kilinochchi.

In the meantime, Major General Rajaguru recently declared open the new camp premises of the 6 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps at the Kilinochchi Security Forces Centre in Iranamadu.
