As one more community-oriented project of the Army, 6 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Women’s Corps (SLAWC) troops serving the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) conducted several workshops on improvement of English knowledge among the students in the area. One such workshop was conducted at Thallaru Maha Vidyalaya recently aiming the students from Garde 3 to Grade 9. This was organized by 7 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) under the supervision of General Officer Commanding 57 Division. It is to be conducted twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays on the instructions of the Security Force Commander Major General G. V. D. U. A. Perera.

A similar workshop was conducted by 6 SLAWC for the kids of two pre-schools, Walawegan and Ilanthali in 66 Division area. This was organized by 20 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding 66 Division and is to conducted every Wednesday.

Meanwhile, soldiers of 15 (Volunteer) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) organized a workshop on Flower Arrangements for women living in the area. The workshop, attended by more than 20 participants was conducted by the soldiers of 6 SLAWC at Paramankirai Government Tamil Medium School auditorium. Another workshop on Beauty Culture was started on 19th instant for the women living in the 65 Division area on the instructions of the Security Force Commander, Kilinochchi. The second stage of this course was held at Akkarayankulam Community Hall on 26th with the participation of 18 participants. Soldiers of 7 SLNG offered lunch to the participants. This is to be conducted every Friday by 7 SLNG under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding 65 Division.

Soldiers of 11 Gajaba Regiment (GR), meanwhile organized a Magic Show to entertain more than 250 school children living in Mulankavil and Iranamatha Nagar areas on 22nd instant to mark the International children’s Day at Mulankavil Maha Vidyalaya. Similarly, soldiers of 15 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) and 15 (V) GR organized a Musical show to entertain the inmates at Mulankavil Children’s Home. They also distributed school books and stationery to its 90 inmates.

Meanwhile, soldiers serving the 57 Division donated blood to an ailing pregnant Tamil mother, an inmate at Kilinochchi General Hospital.
