Troops of the 2 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment serving 111 Brigade area rushed and prevented inevitable inundation of the surroundings, near Kandy Railway Station Monday (17) evening due to torrential rains.
After troops found that a large canal by the railway station has got blocked with garbage dumps, preventing the flow of water uninterrupted. Troops attended to the clearing amidst downpour and let flooding waters recede without causing any damage to the area and functions of the Railway Station.
Meanwhile, more than 43 Army personnel of the 113 Brigade cleared the passage of Kandy-Randenigala main road which remained blocked due to several boulders and impact of landslides, close to the suburbs of Kandy town limits.
