Kandakadu Farm Begins Ornamental & Fresh Water Fish Project

The Corps of Agriculture and Livestock of the Army’s Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock giving a boost to the government’s fresh water fish industry launched a project to rear ‘Thilapiya’ fingerlings and ornamental fish inside the Kandakadu Army farm.

Accordingly, 3 (v) Corps of Sri Lanka Agriculture and Livestock troops released 15,000 fingerlings and 10,000 golden calf ornamental fish to the tanks in the Kadakadu farm. The project is jointly managed in close consultation with the National Aquaculture Development Authority of Sri Lanka. The Directorate expects to rear ornamental fish for export purposes in order to earn foreign exchange.

The inaugural launching was attended by Lieutenant Colonel D.L.C.N Muthuthanthri, Commanding officer, 3 (V) Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock, Major R.M Sarath Kumara, Officer Commanding Kandakadu farm and Captain A.A.K.Y WIckramasingha, Project Officer.
