Jaffna Troops to Build One More New House to a Widow

To be in parallel with the ‘Army Way Forward Strategy 2020 - 2025’ of the Commander of the Army, the ‘Army with a Heart’ at the 55 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) laid the foundation stone to build one more new house to a widow with family members at Uduththurei area in Jaffna.

Major General Ravi Rathnasingham (Retd), now domiciled overseas has consented to erect this house providing financial sponsorship at the request of the Commander, SF-J, Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa and the GOC 55 Division Brigadier Prasanna Gunaratne.

The family of Mrs V. Wasantha Kumarai, a widow with children was living with financial constraints when her plight was brought to the notice of the 55 Division. Accordingly, the foundation stone for construction of this new house was laid on Monday (9) by Brigadier Prassanna Gunaratne, GOC, 55 Division.

The programme was organized by the Commanding Officer of the 12 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding -55 Division.
