120 school children from low-income families in the 52 Division area in Jaffna received school accessories donated by Mr Balasundaram, Chief Engineer, Sri Lanka Telecom, Colombo and Mrs Balasundaram at a simple ceremony held at Varani Maha Vidyalayam on Wednesday (6). The donation worth Rs. 30,000/= was coordinated by the 522 Brigade.
Mr. and Mrs. Balasundaram distributed the gift parcels among the students amidst a gathering of a large number of senior army officers, students, parents and villagers.
Brigade Commander 522 Brigade Colonel S. T. M. A. R Senavirathne accompanied by the Commanding Officer 15th Battalion Gajaba Regiment, Civil Affairs Officer 522 Brigade and the Principal of Varani Maha Vidyalayam witnessed the event.
