Jaffna Soldiers Respect Dependent Fellow-Soldiers at 'Abimansala' Projects Donating Cash

Fellow-soldiers and officers serving under the Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna (SFHQ-J), mindful of the noble sacrifice of the War Heroes who turned permanently disable during humanitarian operations, joined hands together and made a symbolic financial contribution to the Seva Vanitha Army Branch’s “Brave Hearts” project, dedicated to provide solace and rehabilitate those permanently dependent War Heroes at ‘Abimansala’ projects.

During the Army Chief, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya’s stopover at the SFHQ-J on Friday (23) when the Commander was tipped to inaugurate the 'Army Searchlight Tattoo’ in Jaffna, Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander SFHQ-J on behalf of all the officers and other ranks serving the SFHQ-J presented a cheque to the value of Rs 5 million to the visiting Commander of the Army, to be used for this noble cause.

Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, the architect of the ‘Abimansala’ received the token of goodwill at Thalsevana Holiday Resort on Friday (23) evening in the presence of a host of senior officers.
 
It was the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) “Brave Hearts” project, chaired by Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya who has been behind raising the much-wanted funds for construction of those Wellness Resorts in several provinces. The construction of  ‘Abimansala 2' in Kamburupitiya is now in full swing for the benefit of dependent War Heroes, resident in the Southern province.

Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe and all ranks in the SFHQ-J have so far contributed a sum of Rs. 11 million for the welfare of injured soldiers and also the families of soldiers killed in war.

Earlier, Rs 2 million towards the “Api Wenuwen Api” War Hero housing project, mooted by Defence Secretary, another Rs. 2 million towards “Ranaviru Doo Daru Fund”  for scholarships to children of War Heroes initiated by Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa, the wife of Defence Secretary and Rs. 2 million to “Brave Hearts” in total were donated during three different occasions.

Friday’s (23) contribution will help expedite the construction of the ongoing ‘Abhimansala 2’ in Kamburupitiya.

Lt. Gen. Jayasuriya upon receipt of the donation, extended his gratitude to the Commander, SFHQ-J and told those present that it was our duty to ensure the welfare of soldiers injured in the war, and also the families of those who laid their lives in the noble mission of eliminating terrorism entirely from the Sri Lankan soil.
