Inter Regiment T-20 Cricket Finals Ends with a Tie

The Army Inter Regiment T-20 finals were played at the Sri Lanka Ordnance Corps Regimental Centre grounds in Dombagoda on Friday (2).

Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and Sri Lanka Ordnance Corps teams were selected for the finals after the tournament with 18 teams vied. However, the finals had to be stopped due to unexpected rains declaring both teams as co-champions.

The newly-appointed Chief of Staff, Major General Channa Weerasooriya graced the event as the chief guest.

Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Commander of the Security Forces - Mullaittivu and Chairman of Sri Lanka Army Cricket Committee, Major General Shiran Abeysekera, Director General Finance and Management and Vice Chairman of Sri Lanka Army Cricket Committee, Major General Chaminda Lamahewa, Director General Infantry and Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka Gemunu Watch, Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Quarter Master General of Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Major General Priyantha Weerasinghe, Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps and Colonel Sandun Dias, Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army Cricket Committee were present. A large crowd of officers and other ranks spectators watched the finals.

The tournament started on 10 November and continued up to the finals. SL Ordnance Corps batted first and scored 21 runs for 4 overs losing 1 wicket when the rain started and stopped the play. The awarding ceremony saw trophies awarded to co-champions and achievers in previous tournaments. The following teams won trophies in the Inter Regiment Cricket Tournament.
