An Inter Club Volleyball Tournament organized by troops of the 522 Brigade of the 52 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) among civil sector youth clubs got underway during 2-4 February in Kachchei, Wakeadi grounds in Koddikamam.
The ‘Volley Kings’, Volleyball team won the tournament, defeating ‘Seema Puththur junction’ Volleyball players after fighting for supremacy.
On the directions of Major General Aruna Wanniarachchi, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division, this tournament was organized among 9 sports clubs in Kodikamam area under the supervision of Colonel Amal Pinnawala, 522 Brigade Commander with the objective of uplifting sport skills among rural youth and promoting them to reach national and international standards.
It was also aimed at motivating the youth in the area and further strengthening gestures of goodwill and ethnic harmony. The finals of the tournament was organized on Sunday (4) jointly by civil members of those clubs and Security Forces to coincide with the 70th Independence commemoration.
The event also offered a friendly platform for both military and civil personnel to interact with one another in a spirited and cordial environment.
