The annual Seva Vanitha Army Branch’s (SVAB) Christmas treat to the inmates at SVAB-maintained Ward-16 at Mulleriyawa Hospital took place Tuesday (11) afternoon with the participation of SVAB members, led by Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, SVAB.
The SVAB with its own funds is devoted to maintain this ward with necessary renovations and supply of most essential drugs, sanitary items, etc and its Christmas treat to the patients every year is a grand event in the hospital.
The SVAB routine arrangements for the benefit of patients in this ward include supply of a special lunch to the inmates in the final Friday of each month, courtesy all Regiments in the Army and regular renovation and repainting of the ward at SVAB expense.
Tuesday’s lunch was provided by Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC) while the evening tea and Christmas arrangements were organized by the SVAB with the support of its members.
Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, together with SVAB senior members gave away gift parcels of clothes and treated them to tea amidst rhythmic melodies rent by Army musicians. The SVAB got the ward painted before Tuesday’s Christmas arrangements.
