Indian High Commissioner Makes Courtesy Call on SF Jaffna Commander

High Commissioner of India for Sri Lanka Receives Updates from Jaffna Commander and Paid Tributes to Indian War Heroes at IPKF Monument in Palaly.

HE High Commissioner of India for Sri Lanka, Gopal Baglay, and his entourage made a courtesy visit to the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna on Friday, (12) during a visit to the peninsula and met Major General Priyantha Perera, Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna who warmly welcomed them to the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna.

During the cordial meeting, matters pertaining to the Civil - Military Coordination (CIMIC) and Reconciliation Process in the peninsula and the role of the Army in the process of sustainable peace and well-being of the community were also briefed by the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna. Further, he briefed him on the ongoing projects, such as the construction of houses, etc.

The High Commissioner, the Consul General of India in Jaffna, and First Secretary at High Commission of India in Sri Lanka and other officials expressed happiness over prevailing civil-military relations and underlined the importance of further strengthening of such bonds.

Before the meeting with the Commander Security Forces Jaffna, High Commissioner paid tribute to the memory of fallen heroes of the 10th Para Commando Regiment of Indian Army who sacrificed their lives during the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) operation “Operation Pawan” in Jaffna between year 1987 and 1989. The commemoration ceremony was held at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) monument in Palaly.

Officials of both High Commission of India in Sri Lanka and the Consulate General of India in Jaffna, Senior Army Officers, and troops witnessed the commemoration.Running sneakers | Sneakers
