We are in the process of rebuilding devastated lives and property. Humanitarian Operation has not come to a stop after end of terrorism. We have rehabilitated youths in hundreds who were holding guns for years and made them live happily with their dear and near ones in their own territories. So are the programmes we implement for the benefit of the protective security and well-being of our War heroes of the times. The disable War Hero should be provided with a life with dignity. His role must be seen with dignity and pride. It is encouraging to note that the 3rd 'Abimansala' is also going to be set up in Kurunegala, he quipped.
"In the past we lived in a paralyzed country with no basic facilities like water, power and facilities and more importantly the freedom. All those have been achieved or restored within 3-4 years. By making such facilities available to all of you, we are now compelled to restrict our own freedom of movement since enemy elements both here and abroad are hell bent on taking revenge from us. The feeling of achievement of freedom in our hearts gives us strength and we don't mind sacrificing our own lives for the sake of that hard-earned freedom which would provide solace to the people, " the President underlined.
"Sacrifices made by the War Hero in defence of the country cannot be undervalued and it is the bounden duty of us to do the maximum for his comfort and well-being as a grateful nation. One must not forget that our adversaries and defeated elements both here and abroad are still active and burning midnight oil to sabotage our forward-march as I experienced during my visit to London," he reminded.
If someone fails to see the realities with own eyes, none can do anything. Let us help our Ranaviruwan and protect them, making their lives more comfortable, the President concluded.
