A novel project, ‘Pahata Pahak’ programme, aiming to prepare Grade -5 candidates for the forthcoming scholarship examination got underway at the 622 Brigade area of Welioya on 25 October 2022 before they shortly sit for the Grade 5 scholarship examination.
At the outset, ten sets of examination-oriented model papers were distributed among 290 Grade five students of 15 schools in Welioya area and the project was initiated as per directions of the General Officer Commanding, 62 Division Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi.
The supervision of Brigadier Enoj Herath, Commander, 622 Brigade enabled his 9 & 20 Gajaba Regiment troops to stage the event.
This programme was sponsored by the Alumni friends of Royal College Colombo, together with past graduates and friends of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura. The initiative was taken by Mr Prasad Lokubalasooriya. Other members of the alumni committee are Mr Thilanka Mendis, Mr Kushan Chathuranga, Mr Nadeera Jayasinghe, Ms Sadamali Gonagala and Mr Sachith Gayan Wickramarachchi.
