Fourth India-Sri Lanka Army to Army Staff Talks Begin after Meeting Commander

The India-Sri Lanka Army to Army Staff Talks (AAST), which is held for the fourth time, began at the Army Headquarters Monday (2) with the objective of enhancing the Defence Cooperation between the two armies. The discussions will continue until 04 March.

The Indian military delegation, headed by Major General Rustum Patnaik, Additional Director General, International Cooperation and Lieutenant Colonel V.S. Billawaria, Secretary, AAST, arrived in the island on 01 March.

The Sri Lankan military delegation is headed by Major General N.U.M.M.W. Senanayake, Military Secretary, Army Headquarters. The other members of the delegation include Major General B.A. Perera, Director General General Staff, Brigadier K.P.A. Jayasekara, Director Training, Brigadier K.W.R. de Abrew, Additional Military Secretary, Army Headquarters and Colonel S.A. Kulathunga, Colonel Military Secretary, Army Headquarters.
  
The delegation will discuss on Admin, Logistic, Training and Sports matters. Several programmes of training are also to be streamlined.

Meanwhile,  Major General Rustum Patnaik, Head of the Indian Delegation at the 4th India-Sri Lanka Army to Army Staff Talks and Captain Prakash Gopalan, Defence Attaché to the High Commission of India in Sri Lanka before talks began, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Chrishanthe De Silva at his office in the Army Headquarters Monday (2) morning.

During the brief discussion, the head of the delegation and the Army Commander shared views on the Army to Army Staff Talks which is scheduled to begin later on the same day.

Exchange of mementos at the end of the meeting culminated the friendly meeting at the Commander’s office. The Military Secretary, Army Headquarters was also present at the occasion.
