Four New Army-Built Houses Handed Over to Poor Civilians

Four more new houses, built by 59 Division troops with the patronage received from ‘Shanthi’ foundation were formally vested in four poor civilians in Seelawaththa village during a recent ceremony.

On the directions, given by the Security Forces Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), the 59 Division Headquarters with the financial support of the NGO, ‘Shanthi’ foundation recently launched the project for construction of 10 new houses for the poor in Seelawaththa area.

Among the recipients of those four houses were three widowed ladies, two of who are affected with disability in legs and a terminal cardiac problem. All those three women, S. Suman Vaneeda, S. Ananda Rajini and S. Rasa Nagamma are without any permanent sources of income and  do not have any place for living.

The fourth recipient, K. Vishvalingam is a mentally-retarded person who had been abandoned by his children.

The formal house warming ceremony was attended by Major General L.B.R Mark, Commander, SFHQ-MLT, Brigadier P.R.H Dias, General Officer Commanding, 59 Division, sponsoring ‘Shanthi’ foundation officials, Brigadier S.K.P.N.B Ehelamalpe, Commander, 591 Brigade Headquarters, Civil Affairs Officer, Grama Seva Officer and civilians in the area.
