A formal visit by Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna to the Forward Maintenance Area - North (FMA –North) of the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna, was greeted to a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour on Saturday (20).
The visiting Commander was welcomed by Brigadier Sanath Perera, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area – North before he was presented a Guard Turnout. Afterwards, he reviewed the Guard of Honour, accorded to him by the troops of the 5 Battalion Sri Lanka Engineer Service Regiment in accordance with military formalities.
A few minutes later, FMA Commander briefed him on administrative aspects and welfare measures of the troops. Major General Hettiarachchi afterwards addressed FMA troops and planted a sapling in the FMA – North premises as a symbol of his visit to the place.
An all-rank lunch towards the end of the programme provided space for the visiting Jaffna Commander to share a couple of views with all those who were present. He also did not forget to leave his signature in the FMA Visitors’ Book as a token of memory of his visit to the FMA- North.
