Floral Tributes Recall Memories of Fallen Artillery War Heroes

Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) Regiment of the Army on Thursday (19) inaugurated its 124th anniversary commemorative ceremonies at its Panagoda Regimental Headquarters, giving pride of place to remember the memories (Monument Parade) of its fallen War Heroes. 
          
Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army at the invitation of the Colonel Commandant of SLA Regiment Major General J. C Rambukpotha, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President Seva Vanitha Army Branch.
 
The Monument Parade, the prominent feature of the day’s programme, saw the Commander, together with Major General Rambukpotha soon after religious observances of all four major denominations and the military salute, showed their deep respect to the SLA memorial at the Regimental Headquarters by placing floral wreaths.
 
Commanding Officers of SLA Regiment together with Regimental Sergeant Majors of respective units followed suit before the next of kin of fallen War Heroes lined up to offer their floral tributes to the memorial.
