Wanni-based Army troops built five Buddhist monasteries (Awasage) in Gajabapura, Monarawewa, Ehetugaswewa, Kambiliwewa and Veherathenna villages in the Wanni were opened and handed over to the Maha Sangha at respective temples on Monday (26) by Hon Namal Rajapaksa, Member of Parliament who was touring the area.
Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) got all the five new buildings constructed through Engineer Service Regiment troops serving the SFHQ-W with the funds made available by Ministry of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs.
The project was supported by General Officer Commanding of 62 Division, 621 Brigade, 623 Brigade and other units serving the area on the directions of the Commander, SFHQ-W.
